Fisher Nuts Store - Elgin, IL

If you like Nuts and Candy, you'll love the Fisher Nut Store in Elgin, IL!

Fisher Nuts is made out here, but also their outlet store has great prices if you want nuts and candy.  We bought over $50 worth as you can see in our shopping cart!  No, we aren't eating it all... it is for a party!

Not only do they have deals for people, they have deals for animals too!  Large quantities of nuts are available for purchase to feed animals (not for human consumption.  I asked about this and was told these items were not stale items, but packaged specifically for animal use.  I am guessing here, but perhaps these are the nuts that have fallen and swept up from the production floor or some other reasons why people should not eat them, but may be perfectly fine for animals.  At least it is not just wasted!

Go check out the store if you get a chance.  You'll walk away with a bunch of nuts and candy at a great deal.

Summer Rolls For Mother's Day

For Mother's Day, my daughter made us "Summer Rolls" for lunch and dinner!

Inspired by using Vietnamese rice paper wraps, this version was more Korean than Vietnamese.  It had  Korean Bulgogi Rib Eye steak along with Costco's Shrimp with Cilantro Lime, lettuce and some kind of vermicelli rice noodles (not sure what it was).

She also brought Shrimp Chip snacks!

Yum!

Chinese Kitchen - Naperville, IL

My family and I went to Chinese Kitchen in Naperville, IL for lunch today.  This is a place that we went to perhaps 22 or 23 years ago.  We recall fondly going there for dinners when we lived in the area back then.

I asked the waitress if it was the same management and she confirmed that it was.  My daughter remembered the inside of the place and also walking up the stairs to the restaurant when she was younger.

Overall, the food had good "wok hei" flavor to the dishes.  My wife said that her "Dry Beef Chow Fun" (see bottom photo) as good, but a bit too salty.  Overall, all the dishes were perhaps a bit too salty, but not unbearable, just a bit heavy handed.  Each came with soup (egg drop or hot and sour) and an egg roll.

The top photo was a dish called Hong Sue Pork (with fried rice), the middle photo was Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, and of course the bottom photo was Dry Beef Chow Fun.  The dishes ranged from $6.25 to $6.95.

Overall, it was decent, but could have been better.  Still, I'd go back again.  Their reviews on Yelp seem all over the place... some like them, others don't.  Regardless, the staff is very friendly and I'd definitely go back.
